Urban Planner, Small Business Owner, and Mom of Two (Energetic) Kids

The Experience to Bring Effective Action to Communities Across Vancouver.

Being with community gives me a sense of purpose.

Being with community keeps me grounded in humility and lived experience, and it’s what drives me to use my professional skills to organize and show up for a city that’s being led astray. For the last 16 years, I’ve been working as an urban planner to foster more inclusive and equitable communities, where everyone regardless of their race, gender, age, income, or ability can thrive. My urban planning work has spanned from Vancouver to Halifax. I worked as a Senior Transportation Planner at the City of Vancouver until 2023 and presently serve as a Lead Planner at TransLink.

I want to steer our City back in the right direction. I want to protect and enhance Vancouver’s livability, especially for those whose voices are often neglected, including people with language barriers, people with lower incomes, and our youth.

I know how the City functions and how we can work with our regional, provincial, and federal partners, as well as local Nations, to improve the lives of all residents. I’ve worked across public, private, and non-profit sectors, and my academic foundation comes from a Master of Science in Community and Regional Planning from UBC.

Beyond my day job as a Transportation Planner, I’m a small business owner focused on helping people lead greener and healthier lives. I’m also a former Co-Chair of Women Transforming Cities and I sat on the Trout Lake Community Centre Board for the past four years. Whether I’m working on regional transportation planning, supporting community organizations, or advocating for equity-deserving groups, my goal is the same: to help create a Vancouver where people don’t have to fight so hard just to stay here and thrive.

I’m grateful to be able to live, work, and raise my family within the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), and səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, and I recognize the City’s important role in reconciliation.

This city is for people like you and I. It is not a playground for the ultra wealthy where policies that benefit the top come at the expense of 99% of us. We cannot afford the type of politics that translates to effectively zero support for neighbours and doors being shut where help and services once provided a lifeline. I will use my experience to bring forward policies that lead to action and are inclusive of those often under-represented.

To ensure a bright future for my kids and all generations ahead, I must help make the bold changes that are needed now to protect Vancouver’s livability.
